A Place of Peace and Reflection

Inspired by the timeless principles of Japanese garden design, Momiji Garden was created as a tranquil sanctuary where simplicity, balance and nature come together. Every element has been carefully considered to encourage quiet reflection while celebrating the beauty of texture, form and seasonal change.

The garden is centred around a series of bespoke Venetian Grey porcelain stepping stones that gently guide visitors through the space, slowing the journey and encouraging a mindful appreciation of the surrounding landscape. London Stone Venetian Grey porcelain paving provides a clean, contemporary foundation, while Bradstone Charcoal Woburn Rumble edging subtly defines each planting area with crisp architectural lines.

A bespoke arbour seat sits beneath the graceful canopy of Acer palmatum ‘Skeeter’s Broom’, creating a peaceful destination to pause and enjoy the changing colours throughout the seasons. Layers of carefully selected Japanese-inspired planting soften the hard landscaping, with dwarf Pinus mugo pines providing evergreen structure and sculptural form all year round.

Traditional Japanese principles are reflected through the placement of five carefully positioned feature rocks, representing permanence and harmony within the landscape. A 70cm Rosara Rainbow Sandstone bubbling bowl introduces the gentle sound of flowing water, bringing movement and tranquillity to the space. Everest Blue decorative chippings provide a calming, textured ground plane, contrasting beautifully with the porcelain paving and reinforcing the garden’s understated elegance.

Black decorative steel panels and a painted black fence create a contemporary backdrop that allows the planting, stone and architectural features to take centre stage, giving the garden depth, enclosure and a strong sense of calm.

Designed and built by Willow Tree Landscapes, Momiji Garden is a modern interpretation of a traditional Japanese garden—crafted to provide year-round beauty, tranquillity and a place for peaceful reflection.
