Mediterranean Courtyard

Jed’s Mediterranean Courtyard

Jed’s Mediterranean Courtyard is a bold, immersive garden designed to transport the client away from the everyday and into a secluded, resort-style retreat. The brief called for a strong Mediterranean influence with lush, architectural planting, refined materials, and multiple spaces for relaxing and entertaining.

Mature palm trees form the backbone of the design, layered with jungle-style planting and dramatic tree ferns to create depth, movement, and year-round structure. The planting palette softens the hard landscaping while reinforcing the warm, coastal feel of a Mediterranean courtyard.

The layout is carefully zoned to offer a variety of seating experiences. NeoTimber Advanced teak composite decking defines intimate lounging areas, while London Stone Florence Storm porcelain paving provides a crisp, contemporary contrast throughout the main courtyard. These materials were selected not only for their aesthetic quality but also for their durability and low maintenance.

A standout feature of the garden is the shaded seating area beneath the balcony, where a sleek floating bench creates a calm, sheltered retreat. Black batten screening is used throughout the space to provide privacy and structure, detailed with hidden fixings for a clean, minimalist finish. Corten Safari decorative screens add warmth, texture, and subtle artistry, tying in beautifully with the surrounding planting and brickwork.

This courtyard is a seamless blend of architectural design and lush greenery, offering a tranquil yet striking outdoor living space that evolves throughout the seasons.

Client Response

“After the excellent work Willow tree carried out in my main garden, I was happy to ask Craig and the team to redesign my courtyard with a simple brief: a Mediterranean feel inspired by my time in Spain, low maintenance, and real wow factor.

They delivered all of this and more. The design is stunning and innovative, incorporating palms, olive trees, grasses, a seating deck, paving that ties in with the main garden, and beautiful Corten steel sculptures. The quality of workmanship was exceptional throughout.

The team were professional, friendly, and a pleasure to have on site.”
